7 Winter Escapes in Sonoma County

The hustle of the holiday season is officially behind us, and a new year has begun! If you've been stuck in the grips of the post-holiday blues and looking for a way to recharge, we've got you covered. Check out this list of local recommendations that is sure to have you feeling rejuvenated for the year ahead!

Head to the Coast

To put it simply, the Sonoma Coast is unmatched. From the expansive ocean views to the rolling hills, everything seems to urge you to slow down and take a breath.

Consider checking out one of the many Preservations open to the public, or head out on a free hike

Take A Stroll

When the temperatures drop and the crowds disperse, the Russian River takes on a whole new look and feel.

You can warm up with some incredible food (we recommend Farmstand at the Farmhouse Inn!) and head out on a post-meal stroll that's absolutely Instagram-worthy.

Visit a Greenhouse

The Sonoma Botanical Garden is a must-see spot that excels at helping visitors simply relax. Featuring an incredible indoor, living botanical exhibition, 70-acre gardens, trails, views and more, this is an excellent day-trip that will help you get a new perspective on 2023.

A Serene Night Away

One of the (many) benefits of living in Wine Country is that we have some of the best get away options right in our backyard. If you're looking for a full weekend of relaxation, consider the Coast or heading deeper into the Vineyards for the quiet you've been searching for. Bonus points if the venue comes with a top tier restaurant or wine tasting!

Everyone Loves a Spa

It's no secret that a spa day is one of the best ways to reset. Head over to A Simple Touch Spa for various treatments that will make you feel brand new again. Pro tip: Book a Spa Party for private events from bridal showers to girls' nights out.

Visit an Animal Sanctuary

Spending time with animals can reduce stress in ways you might not even know is possible! Charlies Acres is a nonprofit sanctuary that will leave you smiling as you relax amongst the residents of the farm and enjoy a glass of wine and a vegan charcuterie board.

Catch A Performance

Sonoma County has a stage for every type of play and musical, from original comedies and thoughtful dramas to splashy productions of box-office blockbusters. Check out this page for all the venues from Cloverdale to Petaluma, Sebastopol to Glen Ellen!
